Why Exercising With A Spouse Is So Beneficial
A long time ago I had a life turning event at the birth of my oldest daughter. I suffered prenatal Cardiomyopathy and it took me a good 10 years to decide I was tired of being tired and needed to find a healthier self. That is when we met a couple at the mall and introduced us to Advocare Supplements. My husband jumped all over it loving the energy from Spark. I thought he was being a little extreme. My husband got me started on some supplements here and there, and I loved the energy I was regaining from the products.
As time went on I started walking with a friend every evening. Then I moved my exercise to another level and started the Insanity DVD. I did those DVD’s religiously for a full year. I was feeling amazing finally getting into shape my confidence slowly coming back and my husband telling me “I love seeing your true smile again.” I was smiling my clothes were fitting and most importantly I was not needing daily naps. Now I decided to take it a step further so I joined the local court club where my kids could play and run around and I could do classes. I was not into machines. I did weight classes and started every now and then a yoga or centergy class not sure on those just yet. As I continued on my journey our monthly budget kept fluctuated and could not afford to re-up my court club membership. I found a local beginning running group and decided I would try that. Guess What “I HATED IT!, I HATE RUNNING”. But I kept at it, after all, I paid $20.00 to be there! I got to get my monies worth! I went through the program got real close to the lady who was running and she helped me with form and running shoes and then I was stuck. She would call me or show up every time I decided to run. She ran with me and ran my first 5k and always encouraged me with these words, “You are not going to die” Exercising with a buddy is the game changer I thought. But after 2 years now my husband has started running a little bit with me and there is nothing better then your spouse exercising and getting healthy together. Especially since I know he does not like it all at this point. I have faith that like me he will start feeling the runners high that makes it all worth it. Besides, who will take the best pictures of your races….My hubby takes the best pics of me at times I would not even want a pic taken. You will start to see another side of yourself through his pictures.
Why Exercising With A Spouse Is So Beneficial:

- Accountability, you are both encouraging the other and helping each other reach goals that you have set for yourselves.
- Sharing your time , no kids no distractions just the two of you outdoors breathing in nature.
- Getting Healthy, The health benefits are phenomenal for runners, you are increasing your length of life to spend with your spouse.
Intimacy, The intimacy of watching someone you are extremely attracted to run in front of you and working up a sweat, can be a great turn on!!!!
