Badger Mountain Night run at the top.

Badger Mountain Night run at the top.

On Saturday I went on a Mt. Badger run with my Ragnar Relay team. We decided to practice a night run from one side of the mountain to the other. For locals, we went from Shockley down Skyline to Dallas parking lot, and back over to Shockley. The elevation of Mt. Badger is 1593 ft. We ran 7.8 miles total. I took my running buddy Esther (my dog) with me. She doesn’t usually get to go on group runs, but decided a night run would be fun with her. Coming back up from Dallas it was steep and my heart rate was up there a bit, so I had to walk part of the skyline. I am thankful for Sherrie, this gal has so much patience to run with me. We get to the top and she looks at me and says. “Ready, I want to run,” I am not going to lie, I was beat by this time, and wasnt so sure about running again. So I just told her ” lead the way and I will follow.” I just started running. I am proud to say, I made it the rest of the way with no more stops or walks. The following day I was signed up with my cousin Tracee to run The Neon Vibe 5k. All in all I ran 10.2 miles within 24 hours, and now I have a general idea of what the Ragnar Relay will be on Sept 11. My Ragnar leg will be about 16 miles total. Now I know I can run the mileage for that race in the time they allow. Now I am just praying these fires get under control so I can have the opportunity to put all this training to use.
