Foods to eat with heart disease

  • Fish about 2 times a week eat fish. Salmon is my fish of choice.

  • Oatmeal, this is not instant oatmeal with lots of sugar. I make my oatmeal with quick oats at home.

  • Blueberries- I love berries and add berries to variety of what I eat, oatmeal, small pancake or smoothies

  • Dark Chocolate-So thankful for dark chocolate, because I am a chocoholic and need a serving daily.

  • Citrus fruits- I love my fruits for a snack or in green salads.

  • Potato- another thankful food. I grew up on a farm and would be lost if I couldn’t eat my potato’s. Remember don’t deep fry the potato and it will give your body good starches, its full of potassium and high in fiber.

  • Tomato’s- not my favorite, but great chopped into salads, tomato’s have the ingredient Lycopene acid and this is great to get rid of the bad cholesterol.

  • Nuts – I love trail mix and nuts when I am on the go, nuts are great for omega3 fatty acids.

  • Extra virgin olive oil, has the good fats that your body needs. Monounsaturated fats help lower your cholesterol and sugar levels.

  • Broccoli, Spinach, and Kale- remember those salads, yum, and here is your protein that will give your heart an extra boost, with the green veggies.

  • Avocado another great fat source for you body to use. monounsaturated fats and high in Antioxidants and potassium.

  • cardio in post

  • Limit red meat, buy lean cut if you want to eat it and only eat those yummy steaks on occasion.

Learning to eat heart healthy was hard at first. I grew up on a farm and meat and potato’s was served a lot. When I first was diagnosed with my heart disease I was very, young at the age 22.  Just shows that age does not matter.Stop putting off those doctor appointments, or dismissing those symptoms, when you go to the doctor. Your health is not worth jeopardizing. Always talk to you physician about any abnormal feeling you have health wise. After all your family will always want you to be around.
